Question asked: What if there's no social security? You're correct to have concerns about what you may or may not receive as Social Security benefits. The bottom line for planning your retirement strategy: assume you won't collect anything from Social Security. When calculating your retirement goal, leaving out Social Security will help create a conservative plan. If you actually receive S.S., it will be a bonus.
Your plan should include contributing as much as possible to any retirement plans that your employer may offer. If self-employed, look into SEP's, Roth IRA's, traditional IRA's & any other retirement plan you may qualify for. You should also look into putting as much into savings/investments as you possibly can. It's never too late to start. Look at your options and make a plan.
